On April 5th, 2005, At The Evans Town Hall,
Four Members Of The Town Board Held A Meeting To Discuss
Unresolved Problems At Lake Erie Beach Park. By Law, The Town
Board Had A Quorum And All Residents Rights To Know About And
Attend The Meeting Should Have Been Protected Under The Open
Meetings Law. While The Town Board Should Be Commended For
Addressing These Park Issues (That They Have Known About Since
1999) The Fact Remains That The Meeting Was Held In Violation
Of The Open Meetings Law. It Is Also Troubling That Those In
Attendance Were Hand Picked By Town Board Members While Other
Interested Parties Were Intentionally Left Uninvited. While
Its A Safe Bet That They Will Be Careful Not To Have A Quorum
Present For Most Future Meetings, Nevertheless The Open
Meetings Law Should Be Observed For Future Meetings. |
