Dear Sirs,
We are in total support of Paul Pinto coming into
the village and noticing that it needs change. I am also a
new resident and agree. A remark was made by a town resident
that if you don't like it here move. That was a very lame
answer. this village is ready for the next generation to
start to move in and keep Evans going. There was nothing in
the village four years ago that would even make you want to
go there. Now there is a revitalization going on and it is
starting to
look better but still has a long way to go. Years ago a
village board was needed, but now the town has been rebuilt
and the population has increased bringing in some new
businesses giving the town more revenue. Us new comers are
coming into the village and paying taxes for services that
we don't even get. There are no sidewalks on our property,
our basement has flooded twice since we have been here
because of the sewers, the trees are overgrown and old. I
have gone to the village with my problem and was told that
they have been aware of the problems for years and still
don't know if it is a town or village problem.. So if the
village is sending us to the town then why do we need a
village? We are always told to go to the town for almost
every inquiry that we have made. We have been updating our
home since we moved into it( actually almost rebuilt) if we
had to sell it we would never get a return on it because of
the mortgage and taxes to both the
town and village the new owners would have to pay. You
people on the board have to start looking into the future
for your children and others and revaluate your
surroundings. Will your own family choose to stay here in
the future with the way things are now or will they
go elsewhere where the taxes might be the same but they
would get a lot more amenities. You can't even offer us a
decent beach. We have seven children that visit us often, a
couple from out of state .We are
embarrassed to take them to our town park and have to go
elsewhere for entertainment. I remember as a child this was
always the place to come and visit. now there is nothing.
With all of the new subdivisions and home renovations going
on and the village and town bring in more revenue, can't we
even get a decent plaza with a new grocery store and
combine some of the smaller business into it and get
Walmart or another big store to come in . It seems like if
you need the littlest item, you have to run into the suburbs
to get it. We need jobs around
here that the children looking for part time work while in
school will be able to get to . Why should they have to go
into Hamburg, West Seneca & Buffalo looking for work. We
have a lot of seniors too that are looking for work but are
unable to make that long drive into the city or surrounding
suburbs. If we residents of the village are willing to
invest our money into our homes to improve the community
it's about time that the village looks into reality. We do
not need a village
board and services. We have the town of Evans that can do
all of this and more for the village.
The residents of both the village of Angola and town of
Evans have a right at these meetings to be heard and
problems resolved in a timely manner and not be pushed
aside. This is our village and town and not yours. We as
voters have to put you there. And as you saw by the close
ballet results we are ready for change.
Sincerely,
Janice & Alan Thexton
