LAKE ERIE BEACH PARK HISTORY
BACK

In 1985, Lake Erie Beach Park Was Deeded To The Town of Evans. Lake Erie Beach Park Received Funding Through The Horizons Waterfront Commission For Major Renovations. One Of The Main Reasons The Funding Was Received Was That The Park Was Promoted As A Handicap Accessible Park. The Town Promised Continued Improvements To Make Lake Erie Beach Park Accessible To The Physically Challenged.

Unfortunately, Parks Crew Chief Wayne Conrad Has Not Made One Single Improvement That Would Improve Handicap Access. $48,000 Was Spent To Build A Bridge Over Muddy Creek. If You Are Confined To A Wheel Chair, You Better Have 4 Wheel Drive Chair If You Want To Cross This Bridge! Six Seasons Have Gone By And Wayne Conrad Hasnt Had The Time To Pave The Walkways. If Fact If You Are Handicapped, Youll Find Lake Erie Beach Park To Be Very "Handicapped Unfriendly".

If Handicap Access Is Important To You, Please Contact The Town Board With Your Concerns.

TIMELINE
1800'S The Lake Erie Beach Subdivision was created by the Holland Land Company. A park, now known as Lake Erie Beach Park, was established so that it could only could be owned by the property owners or some level of government.

Funding for park improvements under The Costal Waterfront Management Program becomes available. The funding would be available to the town but not the property owners association. A small ad placed in the Angola Penny Saver draws over 100 residents to discuss the turnover of the park to the town. Most in attendance favor the turnover. A search & survey was completed & the property was deeded to the town.
1988 1989 County Executive Dennis Gorski is elected County Executive. The Horizons Waterfront Commission becomes the lead agency for the park. ALL  5 ACRES OF LAKE ERIE BEACH PARKLANDS ARE INCLUDED FOR DEVELOPMENT IN THE HORIZONS MASTER PLAN.

LETTER FROM
GEORGE BASHER
TO THE
TOWN BOARD
GEORGE BASHER LIVES IN LAKE ERIE BEACH AND WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION AT THE TIME THE PARK WAS DEEDED TO THE TOWN.
THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
How did Supervisor Catalino determine that a portion of Lake Erie Beach Park had NO value to town residents?
As part of the sale, the Town included easements for drainage work, utilities and access by town residents. The Supervisor included many easements for a parcel he claimed had no value to the Town or its residents!!!  SEE: P-5217 Attachment #2
Why wasn't a public hearing called to discuss the sale with town residents?
Why wasn't the Highway Superintendent consulted?
Why weren't residents of Lake Erie Beach consulted?
Why wasn't the Lake Erie Beach Advisory Board consulted?
Why wasn't the Recreation Advisory Board consulted?
How was the value of this lake front property determined to be $3,000.00?
Where are the written estimates of the parcels value from an independent appraiser?
By what process did Supervisor Catalino go from a request to sell a paper road to an actual sale of a paper road AND a parcel of park land?
Where are the search & survey for this real estate transaction?
Why did motions made by Supervisor Catalino and the subsequent legal notices refer to the parcel by its SBL (tax) number without mentioning its well known name, LAKE ERIE BEACH PARK?
Why is the parks department still cutting grass on the sold parcel of parkland which is now private property?
Isn't That Illegal?
